Elderberry flowers and berries both make flavorful additions to teas.
The main difference is that flowers, which do not have the stomach-upsetting issues of the raw berries, can be gently steeped rather than simmered, and both have a long history of use in warm, soothing drinks like this elderberry tea.
Elderberry Tea Instructions
- Place ½ tablespoon of dried elderberries in 2 cups of water along with rose hips or any other desired herbs or flowers.
- Bring to a gentle simmer for about 10 minutes, then strain out and compost the plant material or feed it to appropriate animals.
- Enjoy tea as is, or sweeten with a little honey or another preferred sweetener.
