Beyond Chemotherapy: Ozone Therapy & Ultraviolet Blood Irradiation

ozone therapy and ubi

First discovered by German-Swiss chemist Christian Friedrich Schönbein, ozone is a “supercharged” form of oxygen that contains an extra atom; a typical oxygen molecule contains two oxygen atoms (O2), while ozone contains three (O3). This extra atom breaks off from the other two after about 20 to 30 minutes inside the body and performs a unique function beyond just oxygenating cells.

Decoupled from their parent ozone molecules, these oxygen “singlets” are free to bind to anything and everything they can, which is good news for one’s health. Viruses, bacteria, fungi, parasites, molds, and cancer cells absolutely hate ozone, just like they hate oxygen. So, when you have free-roaming O2 along with the O singlet roving the body, risk of disease is dramatically decreased.

These oxygen singlets bind with other compounds such as carbon monoxide (CO), which is harmful to the body, to form carbon dioxide (CO2), which is beneficial. Together with the remaining oxygen (O2) molecules, these singlets seek out and destroy viruses, bacteria, yeast, and abnormal tissue cells they find in the body by blasting through their protective membranes, which quickly leads to their death. It’s the same technique that was used in Germany during the 1930s when patients were being successfully cured of inflammatory bowel disease, ulcerative colitis, Crohn’s disease, and other gastrointestinal-related illnesses.

“Ozone therapy disrupts the integrity of the bacterial cell envelope through oxidation of the phospholipids and lipoproteins,” explains a clinical review of ozone therapy published in the Journal of Natural Science, Biology and Medicine. “In fungi, O3 inhibits cell growth at certain stages. With viruses, the O3 damages the viral capsid and upsets the reproductive cycle by disrupting the virus-to-cell contact with peroxidation. The weak enzyme coatings on cells that make them vulnerable to invasion by viruses make them susceptible to oxidation and elimination from the body, which then replaces them with healthy cells.”

Ozone Therapy Also Improves Cell Function

In addition to going after microbial pathogens, ozone therapy also improves cell function. O3 increases the rate of red blood cell glycolysis in the body, which in turn promotes a greater release of oxygen to cell tissue. When this happens, ATP production gets a boost as well, as does the production of important enzymes that act as free radical scavengers and cell wall protectors. These include the “master” antioxidant glutathione peroxidase, catalase, and superoxide dismutase, as well as a prostacyclin—a vasodilator.

Clinical trials involving ozone therapy have shown that the treatment reduces oxidative stress in the body; deactivates viruses like HIV; boosts immunity; and eradicates bacterial infections, all of which are directly associated with causing cancer. Ozone therapy is also used to treat chronic pain resulting from nerve injuries. So how is ozone therapy administered? There are three ways:

  • Ozone IV: fluid saturated with ozone is injected directly into the bloodstream
  • Autohemotherapy: 10 to 15 milliliters of blood are drawn from the body, saturated with ozone, and injected back into the body
  • Ozone sauna: the body is enveloped with warm, humid steam to open the pores for ozone to enter through the skin into the bloodstream

Ozone IVs and autohemotherapy are obviously the most invasive because they involve needles and blood, which for some people is a turn-off. An ozone sauna, on the other hand, is by far the simplest and most home-friendly method of getting ozone, and the good news is it’s also the most effective!

There are a couple of reasons for this:

  1. Ozone sauna therapy exposes the entire body to ozone through its largest and most encompassing organ, the skin
  2. Ozone saunas have the added benefit of applying heat to the body, which provides hyperthermic benefits. Together, ozone therapy and hyperthermia penetrate deep within tissue to oxygenate the blood and cells, draw out toxins, and improve cellular function.

“Using the steam sauna with ozone allows the steam to surround the body and ozone can be introduced through the skin,” explains one source about how the ozone sauna works. “Humid heat opens the pores, which allows the ozone through the skin to the bloodstream, where it can travel to the fat and lymph tissue. It is very important to cleanse the lymph tissue of toxins and the ozone/steam sauna is the easiest and best way to accomplish this.”

Kellogg and Tesla on Ozone Therapy

Many people don’t know this, but John Harvey Kellogg, MD, inventor of Kellogg’s Corn Flakes and the name behind the Kellogg’s cereal brand, was a medical doctor and surgeon who embraced a naturopathic worldview. He served as editor of the Health Reformer journal for nearly 70 years and advocated for many of the healing protocols.

Kellogg also had a thing or two to say about ozone therapy, having used it himself in the steam cabinets at his naturopathic sanitarium in Battle Creek, Michigan, the place where Kellogg’s cereals are still made to this very day. In his book Diphtheria: Its Causes, Prevention, and Proper Treatment, published in 1880, Kellogg wrote, “Probably, no agent . . . for the purpose of purifying the air of the sick room…is so useful for this purpose as ozone, one of the most powerful disinfectants known.”

Renowned scientist and inventor Nikola Tesla took his own liking to ozone, having developed the world’s first ozone generator in 1896. In 1900, he introduced an ozone-infused olive oil that he sold to doctors for medical use. And for the next several decades before pharmaceuticals came on the scene, ozone was used to treat everything from anemia and asthma to hay fever, gout, diabetes, insomnia, pneumonia, and a whole slew of different cancers.

A 1904 volume published by chemist Charles Marchand entitled The Medical Uses of Hydrozone [ozonated water] and Glycozone [ozonated olive oil] is still available at the Library of Congress in Washington, DC, having been approved by the US Surgeon General. A patent for ozone-infused essential oils filed by William D Neel, MD, in 1909 is still on the books as well.

Ozone Conclusion

What makes ozone so special, in my view, is the way it merely catalyzes the delivery of oxygen, and ultimately energy, into the cells. Ozone stimulates the production of cytokines, or “messenger cells,” that set off a domino effect of positive energy changes throughout the immune system, delivering more oxygen to cells so they can perform the metabolic and detoxifying functions for which they’re designed.

And ozone does all this without harming healthy cells. The defensive enzymes like superoxide dismutase and glutathione peroxidase that are generated from ozone help protect healthy cells from being invaded and destroyed during the purge. Ozone gives healthy cells the special protection they need before it comes rumbling through to ravage all the bacteria, viruses, and cancer cells polluting the body.

The unique way in which our bodies utilize ozone for health demonstrates an amazing profundity and a fascinating creativity. It’s remarkable how perfectly and beautifully oxygen, in its various iterations, performs maintenance on our bodies, especially in cancer.

Check out what this 1980 study published in the journal Science revealed about ozone’s selective targeting of cancer cells, even when ozone is simply present in the ambient air: “The growth of human cancer cells from lung, breast and uterine cancers was selectively inhibited in a dose-dependent manner by ozone at 0.3 to 0.8 parts per million of ozone in ambient air during eight days of culture…The presence of ozone at 0.3 to 0.5 parts per million inhibited cancer cell growth at 40 and 60 percent respectively.”

Marvelously, “Exposure to ozone at 0.8 parts per million inhibited cancer cell growth more than 90 percent and control cell growth less than 50 percent. Evidently the mechanisms for defense against ozone damage are impaired in human cancer cells.”

Cancer cells hate ozone and quite literally die in its presence. Healthy cells, on the other hand, are not only immune to ozone damage, but are enriched by its presence.

While ozone is recognized by both the Environmental Protection Agency and the Food and Drug Administration as having the ability to purify water at a rate of up to 99.99 percent, its use as a therapy in medicine is limited, at least in the US Ozone therapy is widely administered in Germany, where more than 7,000 currently practicing doctors have been trained in how to treat patients with it.

However, testing of ozone therapy in the US is forbidden.

However, there are clinics across the country that offer ozone therapy to patients, and ozone saunas are also available for folks who prefer to treat themselves in the comfort of their own homes.

UV Blood Irradiation

When a plant is exposed to sunlight, the chlorophyll inside it captures the sun’s energy and combines it with carbon dioxide to produce sugar. After using what it needs, the plant then releases oxygen as “waste,” which we humans and the rest of the animal kingdom take in as breath and life.

It’s a beautiful, codependent relationship that underpins yet another novel oxygenating treatment known as ultraviolet blood irradiation, which builds upon this concept utilizing a process known as photoluminescence to oxygenate the blood. In essence, ultraviolet blood irradiation, or UBI, energizes the blood. It also aids in building up red blood cell count and eliminating toxins in the liver.

Like other oxygenation therapies, photoluminescence provokes an indirect attack on pathogenic microorganisms by triggering a chemical reaction inside cell membranes, which improves their ability to naturally fight infections. Blood cells also capture solar energy and use it to “radiate” cancer cells—almost like a natural form of radiation treatment that you’d receive from an oncologist only without harming your healthy cells!

How UBI Works

The Colorado Integrative Medical Center explains exactly how it works:

Ultraviolet blood irradiation, simply called UBI, is a simple, painless, and safe means of treating a person for a variety of illnesses. The procedure involves removing about 200 cc of blood (about the amount in a typical glass of water) and passing the blood through a quartz cuvette where it is exposed to ultraviolet light and returned to the bloodstream. The ultraviolet light used is the same wavelength produced by sunlight.

I hope you’re beginning to see if you haven’t come to this conclusion already, that our bodies are amazingly equipped to handle disease on their own when given the proper tools to do so—or rather when the tools that are built into us for such purposes are well maintained and functioning as they should. When they’re not, it takes an intervention like UBI to make things right.

If your damaged cellular system was a set of dull steak knives, UBI would be the sharpener that goes around honing each one. UBI and the other oxygenation therapies don’t supplant the knives; they just help them do their job better. In the case of solar energy, the immune system literally soaks it right up and uses it to forge a stronger assault against cancer.

It’s an incredibly simple process when you really think about it, yet the complexity of how it works internally with all the various moving parts melding together in perfect harmony is profoundly complex. To me, it’s an awe-inspiring reflection of the unmatched intelligence and beauty of creation, as our bodies have the capacity to self-heal in ways that modern medicine can’t even come close to replicating.
